40 Days of Prayer & FastingНамуна
Invite the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Revelation into this time. Without Him, these are just words on a screen. Man cannot reveal these things to you, but only the Spirit of the Lord.
Wilderness
In Matthew 4, Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. The word “erēmon” in Matthew 4, meaning “wilderness” is referring to a secluded, desert, solitary place. Sometimes, the Holy Spirit will lead us to places that feel dry to discipline our flesh and make us weak so He can be strong. Fasting gets us out of the way so that God can do what He desires. Often before Jesus performed miracles, like in Matthew 14:13, He went away or “withdrew” himself to a “desolate” place. He made Himself weak so that God could move through Him in strength. Fasting is intentionally weakening ourselves to be made strong in Him. To access God's power, we ourselves have to be made weak in humility. Read through today's passages and find how Jesus responded with weakening His flesh. Let the Holy Spirit lead you into what looks like weakness to the natural eye. It may be the wilderness, but the Spirit leads us there to kill our flesh and make us more like Him.
Prayer: Lord, I repent for ever wanting to be strong in my own power or ability. I weaken myself and find supernatural strength in You. Bring Your power as I humble myself and seek you. I’ll follow where You lead me, even if it's into places that I don’t understand. Your ways are higher than mine and I trust the work You are doing in me while I deny my flesh.
About this Plan
Fasting is a spiritual discipline that calls us to deny the desires of our flesh and fill ourselves up with God, His Word, and His presence. Over the next 40 days, we will grow in intimacy with God, position ourselves to be in His perfect will, and learn about His dunamis power in our daily personal encounters.
