Christmas Reflections With Christian Mommas

DAY 2 OF 4

A Reflection on the Holy Spirit and Jesus

By Manoela Paz

Celebrating Christmas is a powerful yearly experience for each one of us. CHRISTMAS is ALIVE, reminding us of what Jesus did for us and that the Holy Spirit, the one the Father sent when Jesus went back to heaven (John 14:16-17), is living in us right now to help us live a life that points to Jesus.

The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.” Luke 1:35-37 (NIV)

We see the Holy Spirit’s presence throughout Jesus' life—before and at His conception, childhood, baptism, temptation, etc. The work of the Holy Spirit in God's redemptive plan is revealed in Jesus' relationship with the Holy Spirit.

The conception of Jesus through a virgin is due to the Holy Spirit's mysterious work. The same Spirit that overshadowed Mary at that time is active in all believers' hearts today.

God sent the Holy Spirit to live inside you and me. When it seems impossible to do life as citizens of heaven because we have a fallen nature and live in a broken world, the Holy Spirit, the power of God, can help us shine the light of Jesus in all our ways. When we yield to the Holy Spirit, we reveal the nature of Jesus Christ.

Yield or respond to the Holy Spirit by being sensitive to His works in your daily life. Let the Holy Spirit do with you as He pleases. Trust the Spirit enough to say: "I am Christ's slave; take me; use your omnipotent power to put me where you want me." If the heartbeat of your life is the glory of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit will empower and help you with all His might.

I pray that through your lifestyle, people will know that Jesus Christ is the great Savior, the Son of the Most High God, and the everlasting King of kings.
