Keys of Sincere RejoicingНамуна
A New Song
An aspect of God’s nature is that He is the Creator. He created our planet from what did not exist, and from dust, He gave life to the first man. The Bible says that with His word, God created everything we know. He wants to make all things new, just as Jesus said in the book of Revelation.
The first thing that God makes new is our nature; He does this when we receive Him as our Savior. The Bible says that we are changed into new creatures, that He gives us a new relationship with Him and a new heart. He gives us the opportunity for a new beginning, a new way of doing things, and a new way of living. God’s mercies are new every morning.
God's change in your nature is reflected in everything we do and how we live. So, keeping our eyes constantly on Jesus Christ enables us to have new songs, fresh songs that come from the new vision that God gives us of what surrounds us and has always been there.
As we maintain our relationship with God, day by day, we see how we change and are never the same as the day before. We can recognize what He does with us to fill us with creativity and opportunities.
Sheer habits can bring wear and tear to relationships. Monotony ages relationships and dooms them to die. Thus, we read in the Old Testament that when God provided the Israelites with manna during their stay in the wilderness, they could not store manna for the next day. God wanted to maintain the fresh wonder of this miracle before His people. Every morning, they had to gather what they would use for the day. The only time they would keep manna an extra day was the day before the Sabbath so God’s people could focus only on Him (Exodus 16:4–5).
God seeks to have a relationship with us that keeps moving, where there are changes and new things to experience and share. We must go out daily to gather our manna in a relationship that is nourished day by day, in which we allow Him to do new things in us and to show us new things about Him. To have sincere rejoicing, we must maintain that longing for newness in Him.
Lord, I want You to do something new in me. Give me a new word, a new dream, a new vision. Give me a new person to draw near to You or encourage. Let me know something more about You; give me a new song that will keep me fresh and abiding in You.
