Royals Part III: Into Exile

DAY 8 OF 21

Abundant Generosity

Giving and tithes can be a sensitive issue, but God has a generous heart and desires generosity from His people. When people come to Him and His Spirit is moving in them, abundant generosity should always result. We see that here as Judah, after celebrating the Passover, gave abundantly to the Temple. They gave so much that they even needed to build bigger storage rooms to fit it all. Everyone who served the Temple was able to be provided for, as well as their families.

This was abundant generosity on the part of the nation but is merely an overflow of the abundant generosity God showed towards them. God had given Judah everything they needed, not only for themselves, but also for their worship. Likewise, God has given our churches everything they need, not only for ourselves, but also for our worship.

Giving generously is not an obligation, it's a celebration. It is a celebration of everything God has given to us. If we hold too tightly to the things God has blessed us with, we quench that celebration and that joy.

Thought Point

How has your relationship with God stirred you to be generous? Is there anything you're holding onto too tightly?

Prayer Point

Ask God to give you a grateful heart for all He has given you, big or small, however much you have.
