How to Deal With Jealousy in a Christian Marriage Намуна
God’s Glory
If we want to understand God better, we need to know that our God is a God who is possessive of the worship and honor which belongs to Him and Him alone. He is a jealous God. He requires of us what is right to require of us. We should not worship any other god, because we are His. Worship, honor, glory, and praise we owe to no god other than our God.
There are many verses in the Bible where God describes Himself as a jealous God and many others where people describe Him as a jealous God. However, God’s jealousy is not to be mistaken with human jealousy. God’s jealousy is righteous and godly. He is a jealous God who wants us to turn away from idolatry and love and serve Him alone.
God is not jealous because He is insecure; that is not in His nature. He is jealous for His glory. His jealousy is a supreme act of love towards us.
In Exodus 34:14, God establishes that His name is Jealous. Why do you think He does that? It is to let us know that He will not tolerate any other god or person or thing standing between Him and the honor, glory, and praise He deserves. He made us to worship Him, to honor Him, and to praise Him. That is the reason He is a jealous God because He made us to fulfill His purpose on Earth for His glory.
For your entire life you may have thought of jealousy as a negative feeling, as something completely opposite to God and who He is. Yet He wants to be known as a Jealous God who deserves the first place in your life; He made you to worship Him.
Do you feel you need to make Him a priority in your life again or maybe for the first time ever? Can you put Him first and trust that He will take care of everything in your life? Can you put Him first in your marriage relationship as the fundamental part of the three-strand cord that is not easily broken?
