DAY 3 OF 5

NEVER ALONE

"The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” - Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV)

Imagine having a relationship with someone that is always in your corner. Someone you can call on at any hour, night or day. A friend who will listen to your problems and always give you the best advice. Someone that will tell you when you’re wrong - not to make you feel bad but to keep you from making an even bigger mistake.

Someone that only wants the best for you and is willing and able to give you everything you need; he is your biggest cheerleader and supporter…someone that is slow to anger, quick to forgive, patient and long suffering. This kind of relationship sounds impossible to have (at least among human beings), but this is the very type of relationship that our loving God wants to have with us.

I found out just how much God loved me when my marriage took a turn for the worse. My wife at the time decided to step outside of our marriage and be with another man. I was devastated. I felt broken, betrayed, and endured a level of heartache and pain that I had never felt before. I got angry, vengeful and I wanted to lash out.

But I remember that nothing happens in this world that God doesn’t allow and if he allows it, it is for a greater good. So, I decided to get out of my feelings and get on my knees, and began to pray.

I prayed mostly asking for God to give me the reason why but all God kept telling me to do was to trust him. God is the truest friend we will ever have. He is there in our greatest moments and with us during our darkest times. His promise is to never to leave or forsake us, and he is not a man that he should lie. He is closer than a brother and more loving than a mother. I encourage you to develop a relationship with the Most High, even now. Don’t wait until some painful or tragic difficulty comes your way.
