Experiencing God in the Secret PlaceНамуна
Go into your room.
The world is getting louder and louder with disturbing news. And it may seem like God is getting quieter. Or do we just not hear Him? How and where can we hear Him, and how does that practically fit into our everyday lives? This is a topic I’d like to look at with you this week…This could change your life! I’m praying it does!
It doesn’t take an advanced theological degree to realize that as soon as we want to spend time with God, something will always happen to distract us from doing so…
Don’t you agree?
And that’s not the only reason the Bible says, “‘But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.’” (Matthew 6:6, NKJV)
I’d like to break that verse down for you:
“Go into your room”
This means consciously going to a place that separates you from the noise, the distractions, etc. You make your subconscious aware that “It’s that special time again—I’m opening myself up to what God wants to say.”
“Shut your door”
When you do this, you ensure that “Nothing else will enter this place except the words that God wants to speak to me.” You choose to shut the door to phone calls, WhatsApp messages, or distractions of any kind.
“Pray to your Father who is in the secret place”
So many of us are feeling lonely, misunderstood, or overlooked. And God is inviting us to find Him in that secret place, where He sees us and wants us to experience His miraculous love!
And the best part comes at the end:
“And your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”
Not only does He see in secret, but He will reward you for “shutting the door” and seeking Him instead of giving in to discouragement and sadness. He will reward you for leaving your many other “to do's” that seem so important and spending time with Him. Yes, “He will reward you.”
Behind closed doors, God will open your heart!
Can you believe that? Not only does He see you when you feel overlooked, but He wants to reward you for taking time with Him! What an extraordinary God!
What are you waiting for? Go into your room...shut the door...pray...and experience your reward!
You’re a miracle!
