Year of the Bible: Part Three of Twelve

DAY 27 OF 30

The Responsibility of Leadership.

Anyone who has ever been in a leadership position has testimonies of the joys and frustrations they encounter with those they lead. Parents leading their children experience frustrations with their children, and so do managers, business owners, politicians, and Spiritual leaders all experience joys and difficulties as they carry out their responsibilities.

For millennia, people have demonstrated tendencies toward complaining and selfishness. People have problems, and the natural [carnal] response is to blame someone else for their problems. Moses faced these issues in his leadership of God's people and even complained and blamed God for his difficulties with the people.

God's response to Moses' complaint was to come to his aid and lighten his burden. God chose to share some of Moses' anointing for leadership with seventy other leaders. Each one of these leaders experienced a personal encounter with God's Spirit. This support helped Moses carry his leadership responsibility with more grace.

Question: Have you ever experienced weariness in your area of leadership? Have you ever descended into complaining and blaming God for your difficulties? What is the life-giving, Biblical response to these trials?

Prayer Focus: When you find yourself in a position place of responsibility, make this scripture your prayer: "In everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
