My Best Hope

DAY 1 OF 6

Where Do I Find My Best Hope?

Hope. It’s a powerful word. It’s a word you might use all the time. You might hope you’ll pass your math test, or get a new bike, or even hope you’re not having meatloaf for dinner tonight.

Hope is tied to a vision of what you want your future to be like. But where do you find hope? What if you’re having trouble picturing a good future?

For the next five days of this Bible Plan, you’re going to learn about your best hope. It’s the whole world’s best hope. And it’s not an “it.” Your best hope is alive. Your best hope is Jesus!

Hope is often described as the anchor for our soul. When a boat puts down its heavy anchor, that keeps the boat from drifting away. If you place your hopes on something that changes, it can feel like you woke up in a world you don’t even recognize. That’s why it’s so important to place your hope in a solid, unchanging God who doesn’t drift or change.

You’ll learn more about that as we go along. For now, enjoy this song video that teaches you about finding your best hope in Jesus, not your own wishes and plans.

Pretty catchy tune, right? And it’s an amazing concept, too. Side note: This verse song was taken from Hebrews 10:23-24, using the NIRV translation of the Bible. You might want to read today’s Bible reading from the NIRV, too, to help you remember it.

Ask yourself: What’s one thing about hope that I’d like to learn as I study this Bible Plan?

Challenge yourself: Grab a paper and something to write with. Today’s Bible verses describe God as faithful or trustworthy; one who can be counted on. On your paper, draw or write as many examples as you can think of that support that description of God. Examples: He always loves me. He always listens to me. He always helps me. He never changes, etc.

Pray: God, thank You for being so trustworthy. Help me to learn what it means to place my hope in You. And help me to do that every day of my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
