Walking With Jesus (Ministry)

DAY 7 OF 7

"Like Father Like Son"

2 Chronicles 33:22

We often hear the phrase "Like father like son". This happened in the case of Ammon, the king of Israel. Just like his father, Manasseh, Ammon also offered sacrifices to all the images (idols) in Israel. He was involved in idol worship. The idols are human-shaped statues that people worship as God. Today's idols can take the form of anything or everything that gets top priority in our lives. Idols can be in the form of hobbies, pleasures, work, possessions, and others.

Ammon, who reigned for only two years, imitated his evil father, Manasseh. However, unlike his father, he did not repent of his evil ways. Finally, the chief leaders of his kingdom killed him and removed him from the kingdom.

God's people can learn three important things from Amos' short life and reign as a king in Jerusalem: First, Ammon was a king who did nothing. Many people followed him and did nothing. To avoid criticism, they did nothing in the ministry and work of God. Let’s be involved in the works of God.

Second, Ammon's reign as king was very short. Many of us want to live long. However, the more important thing in life is not how long a person lives but how he lives that life.

Third, be a good witness for Christ. We must use our short life to give a good testimony about life in Christ. This testimony will serve as an example for our next generation.

Reflection:

1. Are there still idols or things that we prioritize more than God in our lives?

2. What have you done for God's work in your life?

Practice: Spend your time doing God's work.
