DAY 4 OF 14

SAME GOD DEVO

LYRIC EXCERPT:

I’m calling on the God of Moses

The one who opened up the ocean

I need You now to do the same thing for me

For me, for me

You answered prayers back then

And You will answer now

You are the same God

You are the same God

It can be easy to feel like the events of the Bible and the amazing things God has done have little impact on our lives today. It’s hard to imagine how stories about 5,000 people being fed with a little boy’s lunch and men walking on water can translate to our everyday problems.

We’ve all been guilty at one time or another of treating the Bible like a textbook: something we can learn a lesson from, but doesn’t have much relevance for our day to day. But God’s Word is alive and active and it can help us have perspective even in the middle of difficult seasons.

While we may not ride donkeys to work or build altars out of stone, there is one thing that never changes: God.

Once, He fathered a nation through Jacob.

Once, He split the sea for Moses.

Once, He toppled giants for David.

Once, He did the impossible through Mary.

When you view His Word through that lense –– when you know who to turn to –– you can remember that God is with you in this moment.

He remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. And if He did it then, He can do it now for you.

About this Plan

Lion Devotional

In Revelation, we see Jesus as the “Lion of the tribe of Judah” and the “Lamb who was slain.” So much of God’s kingdom embodies paradox; even Jesus Himself was sovereign AND He submitted to authority. He’s the beginning AND the end. He isn’t relegated to one or the other. Join us for this 14-day study as we learn about how God’s kingdom and character may surprise us.
