Like many of you, I've probably learned more about the importance of focus in the last several years than the entirety of my life. Staying the course in a season when everything was - and still is - shifting around us is simply uncharted territory.
In the middle of this shifting, where we place our focus is critical.
- What dream or calling did God place in your heart?
- Have you stopped long enough to listen and hear the direction of God in your life? What was the last thing He told you?
- What are you currently focused on? Where are you spending your time? Is it on what matters most?
Programs that help you set and achieve goals often advise you to remember your why, but we have something much more powerful. We have a Good Father. We get to focus on an unchanging Who.
- Who is the One who sets all plans into motion?
- Who is the One who remains faithful when we are not?
- Who is the One who goes before, beside, and behind you?
When you remember that Jesus is our Who, distractions fall away, competing priorities become clear, and faith grows.
My dear Reader, today I earnestly pray that you find one space where God's clear voice cuts through the noise in your life. One space where His presence and peace undeniably surround you. One space where you can search after Him with your whole heart. When you find this space, allow time to listen to the good voice of your Maker, for it is always filled with overflowing love and justice for you.
Prayer:
Father, allow us to hear Your voice above all others in a world where many of us balance competing demands and hear conflicting voices. Even now, with looming deadlines, complex decisions, boisterous children (even dogs whining to go outside in the background at this very moment!), and perhaps even the noisiness of our own thoughts, allow us to know beyond the shadow of a doubt that You guide our steps. Help us draw near to listen and value that precious time with You. Keep our minds and words focused and clear on Your Word. In You, we have confidence today.
About this Plan
This 3-day devotional reminds us that all it takes is one moment when God is involved. He is the One that provides us focus and strength when we need it most.
