DAY 5 OF 7

The (un)Natural Mom in the Rose Bush Garden

When looking for a tree type to represent this temperament, I searched for one that was hardy in nature; prickly but also productive. A cactus initially came to mind, as this plan seems able to survive in the most hostile environments without failing to flower spectacularly in season. One would not want to insult this personality type by calling her a cactus, however! Rose bushes were my second choice. They are thorny enough yet known for their exceptional flowers. A properly pruned rose bush has many positive traits.

Some celebrities have roses named after them. Eleanor Roosevelt made a typical Rose Bush remark about the rose named after her, but it happens to be a bit too “sharp” to publish here. The possibility of fame and success is a special package Rose Bush babies receive at birth. Those rosettes that were pinned onto the chest of champions in the old days are what Rose Bushes want. A Rose Bush has drive and competitiveness ingrained in her nature.

Unfortunately, most Roses also have thorns. Their parents can usually attest to the fact that they were hard to shape. The closer you get, the more you encounter the thorns. Their children might complain about this trait too.

Before we enter the world of a Rose Bush, a word to fellow Rose Bush moms: your whole history plays a part in how much good, bad, or ugly of your temperament you display on any given day. Rose Bushes aren’t always in full bloom. When tended with care, they explode in generous fragrance, and color. When pests and adverse environmental factors hit, however, such moms can bear more thorns than flowers, especially if many challenges have eaten away at the Rose Bush.

The Rose Bush temperament corresponds strongly with the choleric temperament, as well as with the personality type D (dominant, direct, decisive) in the DiSC indicator.
