Worship Brings Heaven To Earth
How bizarre would it be if you were to worship a newborn baby in the middle of nowhere and take expensive gifts as an act of that worship? How crazy would it be to find yourself directed by angels at midnight to find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth and to pay homage to that non-descript, even ordinary-looking infant?
Illiterate and uncouth shepherds who were usually overlooked by the townspeople were invited by a host of angels, after a huge sound and light show with the sky as the backdrop, to a one on one visitation with a newborn King. This ordinary, run of the mill crew, rushed to see the baby and then spread the word to the entire town. Their eagerness was in response to seeing angelic hosts extravagantly worshipping God and giving him their highest praise.
It sounds half-baked and a little over-the-top but that's what worship looks like.
Later, learned, upper-class scholars, most likely from the Orient followed another worldly astronomical sign and came looking for the Messiah. They were so committed to the search that they were not even deterred by an irate ruler like Herod and his henchmen. They were tireless in their search and on finding the child, they worshipped him. It wasn’t just lip service at that, it was one of sacrificial giving of precious gifts that they had brought from their land.
Worship today is sometimes reduced to a song, a leader, musicians and the ambience. In reality, worship is a posture and should eventually become a lifestyle. It’s a heart that is longing for more of God. It’s a life that is hungry for God’s presence. It’s a being who is constantly connected to the source of life himself. Worship like this requires that we lay our all before God, bringing him everything that we are, ready to give Him all that we have. Worship that is authentic and Christ-glorifying will move others to find the living God and worship Him for themselves.
Are you constantly in an attitude of worship?
Is there something that is holding you back from worshipping Jesus with everything you have and are?
Will you bring worship back into your life?

About this Plan
Christmas is a great time to look closer at ourselves and see how the reality of Jesus coming to earth changed our lives. Heaven invaded earth and forever changed it. Our lives may be hard and complicated but in no way is it pointless with Jesus in it. Will you allow heaven to invade your life and live with a greater awareness of God’s presence and purpose for your life?
