Enforcing You: Activating Your Kingdom Identity in ChristНамуна
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
Let’s consider how this passage applies to this concept of wrestling with who we are. There is a heaviness that the world’s definition brings that keeps us striving, laboring to conform to the world’s view of acceptance, love, “fitting in.” We too often become yoked to that definition, forced to move with the moving target of the world’s ways. We become navigated and directed by the waves of the culture and steered by its opinions and perceptions. There is no rest in being yoked to the world.
Jesus knew that this is the weariness and the heavy-laden condition His audience was experiencing. They were no doubt exacerbated by the winds of change, as are many of us. Understanding the heart of those He addressed, and the heart of man, but more importantly knowing the potential of man, He speaks into this issue and gives the antidote.
Jesus implores them to come to Him and take His yoke upon them and learn from Him. He is saying, “Be one with me! Consider who I am. I am your blueprint of who you are and live your lives accordingly.”
This message goes way beyond just salvation. It instructs us to discover who we REALLY are while we are here on earth and leads us into the true peace we find as we learn to rest in our God-design. He is saying that when we line ourselves up with Him, then we will be navigated solely by His definition. This is where we find relief from the world and rest for our souls.
I like the way the Voice says it in verse 29…
“Put My yoke upon your shoulders—it might appear heavy at first, but it is perfectly fitted to your curves.”
Your design is perfectly crafted to the person of Jesus. As you discover Him, you will discover you! Doesn’t that sound freeing? Doesn’t that simplify some things in your mind?
It is time to release yourself from the world. Shut down the voice of your system and erase the external definition that has been placed upon your shoulder. RUN to Jesus and take upon His yoke (definition) and find rest!
This means you must stop and sit for a moment. Take a breath and let His love rewrite your day. Embrace what He says about who you are… right now. Don’t wait another minute.
Let’s declare it together. “God, right now I yoke my mind to yours. I receive what YOU say about who I am, and I choose to believe you. I declare that I am released from the pressures of the world and I am loosed into the ease of your Truth. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
