DAY 3 OF 5

2 Corinthians 10:17 (KJV)
But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Give Glory to God

To give glory to God means to honor, praise, or recognize God. Some great things have happened to you this year-- you may have been promoted on your job, started a family, sent your children to college, etc. Whatever is worth celebrating, as we share them with family and other individuals, let’s be intentional about acknowledging God as the one who has made it all possible. The truth is that we wake up every morning because God made it possible (Psalm 3:5), our brains are functioning, and we are in our right mind because of Him. Everything it takes to accomplish great things is by God’s mercy.

Consider this event in Daniel 4:29-34 (KJV)

At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.  The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.  And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.

And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:

The king of Babylon glorified himself, and he was abased to the point of thinking and living like an animal. He was restored when he lifted his eyes to heaven. That is, his restoration came after acknowledging God. If we continue to give ourselves glory for the great things we experience, we will not experience God’s best and we will become animalistic in nature-- purely living to survive without eternity in mind.

Give glory to God! When you fall short, ask God for mercy. Brag about what God has done for you.

As the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the LORD. 2 Corinthians 10:17 (NLT)
