Self-Control: The Fruit of the Spirit a 7-Day Bible-Reading Plan by Kenneth Copeland MinistriesНамуна
You Have To Want It
After this week’s study, you may be thinking, You know, I really should work on my self-control. But just like anything else, if you’re really going to achieve it, you have to want it first—really want it. Otherwise, the effort will be halfhearted, short-lived, and therefore, completely ineffective.
God wants you walking in the fruit of the spirit because He knows you’ll go very far very fast in every area of your life. But He can’t force you to do it. That’s right. He can’t. That’s because He won’t violate the free will He’s given you. He’ll help you, and He always gives you a way out, but ultimately, you have to want it first.
Sometimes people don’t want to give up the areas where they overindulge. They haven’t had a revelation of the harm it’s doing to them. Quite often, something else is blocking them from desiring to have self-control. Insecurities, hurts and pain from the past, or a spirit of rebellion prevent them from desiring to be set free from addictions or areas of overindulgence.
You can be delivered from those things that are keeping you from operating in the freeing and empowering practice of self-control. God is ready and waiting to help you!
If you find yourself struggling to want to walk in self-control, take time to get with the Lord and find out the deeper reason behind it. Allow Him to dig around in the secret places and heal you. Ask Him to give you a strong desire to develop self-control.
He thinks you’re worth it.

About this Plan
When you were born again, your spirit was re-created—but your flesh was not. It stayed the same, and it still wants to go the wrong way at times. In this seven-day study, you’ll learn how self-control, a fruit of the spirit listed in Galatians 5:22-23, will help you guard every area of your life—finances, health, relationships, career—everything. That’s a fruit worth investing in!
