Overcoming Anxiety: Your Biblical Guide To Breaking Free From Fear And Worry Намуна
Stay in the Moment
I have heard it said that when you dread something, it’s like you go through it twice because you live out the worst-case scenario in your mind before it ever happens. With God, we usually walk through an experience once, and He gives us the grace we need to deal with that experience as it happens. But when we dread something, our minds believe God’s grace won’t be present to assist us in handling the situation, and we play out this idea before it happens.
The truth is, God’s grace is alive and active in the present moment, and His grace is sufficient for us to handle whatever we must face—not things we think we might face. God will not work against His Word, and His Word specifically says, “Do not worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will have enough worries of its own.” (See Matthew 6:34.)
Worrying about tomorrow is a huge problem for those of us with control issues. Choose today to give those concerns to God. Worrying about the tomorrows in life or focusing on the what-ifs in every situation will steal your joy quicker than you can say ulcer.
Prayer Focus: Spend time in prayer asking God to show you if what you are thinking about can be handled today. If not, cast it down and give it to Jesus.
