1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV)~ In every thing, give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Jesus revealed the power of thanksgiving on many occasions. Today, we will focus on two instances
John 6:9-11(KJV) says:
There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would."
Jesus did not focus on the impossibility—feeding thousands of humans with five loaves and two fishes. He harnessed the power of thanksgiving to turn an impossible situation into a testimony or a miracle. He taught us that we need to thank God for the little we have if we want to experience more instances of thanksgiving.
John 11:41 (KJV) says, "Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me."
Again, Jesus focused on the Father and thanked Him for answered prayers. Perhaps you have prayed concerning a situation in line with God’s will, but you have not seen a change, go ahead and thank God for answered prayers. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6 (KJV)).
In all these impossible situations, Jesus thanked God before the manifestation of His desires. It means we can thank God for the outcome we are anticipating, no matter what happens. Instead of worrying, we can thank God that His will would prevail concerning those issues that trouble us. We can thank God, believing for the salvation of our children before they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We can thank God and believe for healing before it manifests. We can thank God for the past, present, and future. The prayer of thanksgiving turns your heart to the right focus!
Please take a moment and thank God for life. Thank God for what he has already done for you, what he is doing in your life, and what He has promised to do according to His Word.
