Day 7- Protection Over My Family
- God’s Word
Those who fear the Lord are secure; he will be a refuge for their children. Proverbs 14:26 (NLT)
- Today’s Thought
Today's families are under Satan's attack like never before. The spiritual and moral decline in our culture today has manifested in destructive choices and unimaginable behaviors. However, we must keep in mind that Satan has always been about attacking the family from the beginning of time. He began his attack of deception and destruction with Adam and Eve in Genesis chapter 3. Fast forward to the 21st century, Satan's deception and destruction continue as he uses every possible means to destroy marriages and destroy the next generation. His strategy is simple, so goes the home, so goes the nation, and so goes the world. However, as followers of Christ, rather than live in fear, intimidation, or isolation, God wants to remind us that He has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7).
Our reverence for the Lord and our commitment to being steadfast in Him will serve as our trustworthy source of strength, security, and shelter for the protection over our lives, marriages, and family. Today, remind yourself that you are not praying for victory; you are praying from a position of victory because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. If you or someone you know and love are facing struggles in a marriage relationship or experiencing a broken heart over a son or daughter or sibling living outside of the will of God, don't lose hope.
As we continue to pray this prayer of blessing, ask God to be a refuge of protection over your loved ones. Ask God to surround members of your family with His presence and protection. As you place your security and trust in the Lord today, ask Him to guard and protect what is most important and valuable to you - your family!
- My Prayer
May the LORD bless you and protect you. May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace. Numbers 6:24-26 (NLT)
Lord, I come to you today with a grateful heart for the wonderful gifts you have given to me through my family. I confess we are not perfect, and I admit that we are not all that we could be or should be. However, today, I ask that you be a refuge to my home, parents, spouse, children, and siblings. Protect them against any fiery darts the enemy tries to use to deceive, distract, discourage or defeat any of my family members today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
About this Plan
For 20 years, Michelle's father, Dr. Rod Masteller, used "5 P's" taken from the prayer of Aaron to serve as a daily guide to pray God's blessings over his life, family, and friends. In his honor, we have written this devotional as a framework to help you focus on praying for God's provision, protection, presence, power, and peace.
