Walk This Way

DAY 2 OF 10

"Not Just Here, But Everywhere!"

Take a look at a map of ancient Israel. Try to find some of the regions and cities mentioned in Acts 2 and 8: Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and Gaza. Think through the passages geographically.

The action starts in Jerusalem. That’s where Peter preached on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2). That’s where 3,000 people repented, believed, and followed Jesus. That’s where the Holy Spirit was poured out and the Church was born. There is no doubt that God was present and active in Jerusalem.

In Acts 8, after persecution broke out, thousands of believers scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. We can’t follow all of their stories, but we can zero in on Philip as he heads to a city in Samaria. He shared the Gospel. People responded with great joy! Again, it’s obvious that God was present and active there just as He was in Jerusalem.

In the rest of Acts 8, we find Philip—and God—in yet another location. As Philip goes from the metropolis of Jerusalem to the smaller market city in Samaria and finally to the dusty, desert road down south, he discovers that God is present even there!

Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, Gaza. North, south, east, west. No matter where you point your compass or set your foot, God is at work! He is at work not just here and there, but everywhere! Have you ever really considered that?

You will never beat God to a particular place. His Spirit is not confined on any continent or bound by any border. He is the Global God and is actively at work on every square inch of this planet. Contrary to what you may have heard, there are no God-forsaken places. Wherever you go and wherever you’re going, take great confidence in the fact that God is already active there.

Ask God to open your eyes to signs of his presence wherever you go today.
