God Speaks Намуна
Wisdom comes with age and experience, but also through our relationship with, and understanding of who God is. The Bible says that God has all power, all wisdom, and all understanding. As believers, though we may not have all the answers, we do hold THE answer, Jesus.
My Dad became a Christian when he was in his early 20’s, and since that moment has often been the target of sly comments and judgement from his family. Over the years though, I began to notice that if there was strife amongst my extended family, they would call upon my Dad to guide them through it. Every single time. Why was Dad the one they sought help from? They had the same upbringing, parents, and many of the same experiences, but what set Dad apart was his unwavering belief in, and relationship with, God. He held THE answer, Jesus.
As believers, though we may not feel qualified to answer the difficult questions, or wise enough to deal with hard situations, we must remember that we have access to a wisdom that surpasses all else. My Dad is not a wise scholar. In fact, he didn’t complete high school. It was not his worldly accomplishments that qualified him. It was God. Though we were once unqualified, Jesus’ death on the cross qualified us.
So, how do we grow in our wisdom? Well, it’s much like when we want to learn a new skill. If I wanted to learn how to grow a garden I would go to an expert to ask questions, I would research the best methods, listen to podcasts, read books on gardening, and surround myself with others who also want to grow in their knowledge.
As believers seeking Godly wisdom, we need the same approach. We need to ask the expert, God, for His wisdom, seek His face, and grow in our relationship with Him. We need to read and meditate on His word daily, worship, pray, and spend time with other believers.
God holds the answer to every situation and circumstance. Godly wisdom will always far outweigh and surpass any wisdom we receive from the world. Be challenged today to ask God for wisdom in your life.
Prayer: God, thank You that You qualified us when You sent Your son to die on the cross. Lord, we pray that You would give us Your wisdom. Help us to spend more time in Your presence so that we would continue to grow deeper in our relationship with You. In Your name, Amen.
