You Are Called To Love & Serve Others
When we understand how much God loves us, it inspires us to show his love to others. As we realize more and more how much God has helped us, we’ll want to help the people around us!
And this is when our unique gifts and talents come into play—we can put them to good use by loving and serving others with the special talents God has given us. We will have the most joy in our lives when we help other people in our own unique way. It doesn’t feel good to keep our abilities to ourselves. God made us to love others!
At the beginning of VIVO, Andrés shows Vivo love when he decides to take him in. Andrés didn’t do this because he wanted Vivo to give him something in return, but he did it simply because he wanted to help. Andrés also used his unique talents with music to give Vivo a purpose. When they find they both share a passion for music, together they are able to bring joy to others every day. If we look around in our lives, we’ll see that we have lots of opportunities throughout our day to help people just like Andrés.
Check out this advice from Jesus’ best friend, Peter. Peter is giving advice in a letter to some of his friends, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.” (1 Peter 4:10)
The Bible doesn’t ask us to love and serve every person in every way at all times. God’s not trying to tire us out! Instead, we can use our abilities and work together with others to help everyone in need. God gives you unique gifts and talents to help others. And He also gives other people different talents than us – so that we can all work together to make the world a better place.
Pray today: Dear God, thank you for giving me many opportunities to use my gifts and talents to help other people and show them love. Help me to see the ways I can love and serve those around me more. And help me to appreciate the talents You’ve given to other people too. Amen.
