Exploring the Deep Places With GodНамуна
Going to the Deep Places with God
We love how Holy Spirit nudges us to go deeper in relationship with Him, deeper into the places in God's heart: “Go to the deep places with Me. Do not be afraid. I have much to uncover within you. And the uncovering is good. For I am good. I have healing for your heart.”
The word “deep” carries with it emotion—and expectation. It might carry with it a little reservation, or trepidation too. After all, what might it mean to go to the “deep places” with God? We ask ourselves, do I want to do that? Is this a good idea?
Going to the deep places with God is an invitation for more, more of Him, more of His power—which includes more goodness, more joy, more love, more peace, more hope. More of God is always good. Never bad.
Holy Spirit is within us right now, which means God is pulling us ever closer, desiring greater intimacy with us, greater surrender and trust. And in return, we experience more of all the goodness of God.
Before we tread further into this message, let’s pause here and consider the very first sentence He speaks to us in prayer: “Go to the deep places with Me.” When He says this to you, what do you picture? What do you imagine? What is your heart’s response? Is this something that sounds good to you? Do you want to say yes to Him? Or do you have some reservations about saying yes?
Claim the emotion you are feeling now. Tell God what it is. Tell Him how you feel when He speaks those words to you. And then ask Him this question: “What are these deep places You want to take me, Father? What do “deep places” really mean?
In a journal, or with a close friend, describe your reaction to the words, “deep places.” What is God offering you now?
