You Ask Amiss.
“Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” James 4:2-3 KJV
Let God search your heart. You have not because you ask not. You desire to have and receive not, because you’re asking that you may consume it upon your lusts. The Amplified Version expounds upon James 4:2-3 AMPC in the following manner:
“You are jealous and covet [what others have] and your desires go unfulfilled; [so] you become murderers. [To hate is to murder as far as your hearts are concerned.] You burn with envy and anger and are not able to obtain [the gratification, the contentment, and the happiness that you seek], so you fight and war. You do not have, because you do not ask. [I John 3:15.] [Or] you do ask [God for them] and yet fail to receive, because you ask with wrong purpose and evil, selfish motives. Your intention is [when you get what you desire] to spend it in sensual pleasures.”
Shift the focus of your heart. Surrender every aspect of your heart over to Christ. Don’t covet what others have. Don’t limit what God can do through you. He wants to use you. Psalm 139:14 KJV declares, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”
You are fearfully, wonderfully, and intricately created by God Himself. He designed you for a purpose. God designed you to carry out His will, purpose, and plan.
Jeremiah 29:11 KJV declares, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” God knows the thoughts that He thinks toward you.
God wants to use you, but first He wants to transform your heart. Romans 12:2 KJV declares, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
