Day Four: Knowing Your Weakness
There is power in your weakness. Everyone has areas of weakness, but most of us try to cover them up. Unfortunately, when you spend a lifetime trying to hide your shortcomings from acquaintances, family, and friends, it becomes just as easy to try to hide them from God. God alone has the ability to unleash power through your weaknesses; when they become a source of insecurity and shame, you limit that power.
Knowing your weaknesses is the first step to releasing this power within your life. Identify those areas that require more of your time and reserves. Identify those things that cause you to become easily irritated. What activities make you want to run and hide? What phobias hinder you? Do you have a fear of speaking to crowds? Do you have a tendency to procrastinate? Does the word patience make you cringe? Are you easily angered? Have you had problems getting motivated?
Once you identify those areas of weakness within your life, you allow God the opening through which He can begin to infuse the power of His Word. You cannot change what you will not confront. You should address weaknesses, but they need not become a source of self-condemnation. They are areas of limitation that are awaiting a divine release.
God is willing and able to breathe strength into the weak areas of your life. The power within your weaknesses has unlimited potential as your weaknesses become God’s personal projects. He assumes all rights to them and will use them for His glory. When you see your weaknesses growing in strength and power, you become fully aware of God’s energy alive and flowing through those areas. Weaknesses are a wonderful asset. From glory to glory, watch as God uses your weaknesses to reveal his power.
Perfection is not the goal on earth; it is God’s goal for your heavenly future. Your life is a progressive journey. There will be times of success and times of failure. There will be times of faith and times of doubt. There will be moments of joy and moments of fear. You cannot maneuver this obstacle course we call life and expect to finish the race perfectly. The goal is not to finish perfectly but rather to learn and grow along the journey. The goal is to progress in your areas of weakness so that each day you begin to look more like the person God sees when He looks at you.
What are your personal weaknesses? How can these areas of weakness be an asset?
