Although God is not the author of pain, sometimes He allows it for our protection. In Paul's case, God used what Satan intended for harm as protection from something with even greater repercussions: pride. We won't always know why God has allowed pain in our lives, but we can rest in the fact that as followers of Jesus, all pain has a purpose. God may not change your circumstances, but God's Word can change your perspective.
