DAY 9 OF 40

Sunday Gatherings

Mathew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am among them.

In many ways, it just makes sense to gather with others who share common interests and convictions. Families who gather regularly, sports clubs, or any organization that has consistent interactions will sense more unity and strength. Getting into a weekly habit of congregating as the church will undoubtedly bring people closer together in unity. It is a Godly principle noticed globally.

When I looked back and meditated on Acts 2: 41-47, where Luke described the early church activities, I asked God what I had missed that would help me and other believers in understanding the importance of Corporate Worship and Teaching. We can and should experience the presence of God on our own, but special, awesome things happen when Christians gather.

Church activities included:

Continually devoting themselves to the teachings and meeting together. The Apostles' teaching was the very central content of the things Jesus taught them whilst on earth.

Relationships were being established and they devoted themselves to frequent fellowship.

They were breaking bread together to be reminded of their inclusion in Christ.

They actively worshipped together and shared what they had generously with other believers.

The blessing of God was on them as many miracles took place and more people were added to the church by God.

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, it has been very challenging for the Church to get together on Sundays.  The outcry was universal as Christians sensed the loss of not being able to meet regularly.

We read in the Bible book Hebrews how Paul urges the church to not stop meeting regularly.

Hebrews 10:25 NLT And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

There is a sense of urgency in his instruction. We should encourage one another to meet frequently as believers.

Prayer:

Lord, please strengthen the church to meet together consistently as we worship You and grow together as Christians.

About this Plan

Follow: Life-Giving Habits

In the person of Jesus, God calls all people not to simply know about Him, but to follow Him with all that we are. Following Jesus daily is more like a habit than it is a moment. Habits are things we do often and regularly, without consciously thinking we have to do them. This 40-day plan will explore life-giving habits to establish us in the new life that Jesus gives.
