Don’t Compromise God’s Standard
Romans 13:14
Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.
King Nebuchadnezzar chose Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah to serve in the palace of Babylon. The king instructed them to consume his sumptuous food and wine. However, Daniel refused as it would make them unclean. He asked for permission to have only vegetables and water.
At first, the guard was reluctant because it was against the king's order. Daniel asked him to compare them with the rest of the men that consumed the king's food after ten days. Finally, the guard agreed to Daniel's request. True enough, after ten days of having vegetables and water, Daniel and his three friends looked healthier than the men who ate the king's food.
To compromise means not fully obeying. Daniel never compromised God's standard. Daniel not only understood but also obeyed God's commandment. He knew the truth, followed it with faith, and lived it.
When Daniel said no to what was wrong, God said yes to him. As a result, God took care of Daniel and his friends and made them ten times wiser than the others.
Prayer
Dear God, let me have the courage not to compromise Your standard but to obey You with all my heart. Amen.
