We Were Made for This

DAY 2 OF 3

Prayer: God, thank you for not leaving me to my own devices, but coming into my situation and being with me. Jesus, you are the way, the truth and the life and I pray that your glory would be made known to all the earth. Amen.

Jesus and God’s Glory

As we have seen, God manifested himself to humanity in some extraordinary ways in the Old Testament. From an exuberant whirling fire atop a mountain to celestial visions given to prophets and priests, God has never been hesitant in revealing himself to his people. However, in almost every interaction he had with humanity, it was never a full picture of all that he is.

Graciously and lovingly, God encapsulated all of this power, might, and beauty into a person, and his name is Jesus. In fact, Hebrews 1:3 says “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature.” Incredibly, Jesus came in the most unexpected and humblest way possible, in the form of a baby. What an extraordinarily beautiful mystery, that God himself, in all of his sweeping majesty, chose to enter into our humanity. Jesus is God incarnate!

Look in the Word

  1. Go back and read the verses from Day 1 and then read the verses for Day 2. Are there any that correlate with one another? How?
  2. How is the glory of the Father reflected in Jesus Christ?
  3. What stands out as significant for your life today?

What’s Next?

Throughout the day/week, meditate on the fact that the God that sent Jesus and displayed His mighty power, is that same God that created you and desires a relationship with you.
