Challenges in Everyday Christian LivingНамуна
Going Through Difficult Times
Challenges are what make life. Admission to schools, universities, landing on a job matching our skills, health issues, losing a loved one are some common challenges we face. Finding our life’s purpose when we have significant setbacks in life can be the greatest hurdle to cross.
"Can't go back to the beginning
Can't control what tomorrow will bring
But I know here in the middle
Is the place where You promise to be."
Words from Christopher Joel Brown's song "Here again" are apt when we go through challenges.
As we tide these challenging situations, losing our faith and hope in God are common. These are the reasons we tend to choose the fallacious way out, which may prove costly. By the time it dawns on us, we find ourselves having drifted away from whom God desired us to be. Despite these circumstances, God is faithful. He will restore and fill us with peace and joy as He accomplishes His promise in our life.
We can confidently say
• God prepares
• God provides
• God protects
• God prevails
God prepares us and those around us to face the challenges. He provides us with grace, strength, and peace to carry out His will in our lives. As we journey, we will be surprised by his providence and protection. When we come out on the other side, we will look back and see the hand of God in our lives.
Personally, these are times when
• we draw closer to God
• we experience God's presence
• we gaze at the wonder of God.
• God becomes close, One whom we can relate to, rather than as something / someone / somewhere far away.
Be encouraged. The God who said 'I am Who I am' will manifest Himself to us. He promised that He would never leave us nor forsake us. We need to willingly choose to walk on water like Peter, keeping our eyes focussed on Christ. In doing so, we will not be overwhelmed.
During this devotion let us ponder some common challenges we face which hinder us from keeping our eyes focussed on Christ. Let us ponder on some guidelines to overcome them.
Prayer: Lord, help us to stay on course, keep our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
