Extravagant WorshiperНамуна
Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
When there is a crisis, our hearts go out to all who are suffering. In the midst of a pandemic, God is speaking to our Church about Worship. He is looking for worshipers of the ‘extravagant’ kind. Are you able to worship in the midst of challenges? Does the Lord find you when he is looking for worshipers?
Isaiah was so quick to respond, to raise his hand and say I’m available. How could he be so reckless and so abandoned in his worship? Surely he should have asked for the terms and conditions: what’s the project in mind, what will it entail, how long, what will it cost me and what are the benefits? Isaiah seems to offer an unconditional response.
Today, God is looking for people to serve him. His call goes out in the midst of uncertainty. Who will go for me? Who will be my hands and feet to take the message of love to the hurting people around us? Social distancing is not social isolating. Even when we cannot go out, we can reach out through other means: calls, texts, virtual acts of kindness, etc. What will my response of extravagant worship be, and what will yours be?
