DAY 5 OF 9

The Treasure is in His Word

And when the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon...
1 Kings‬ ‭10:4 ( ‭ESV)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
Proverbs‬ ‭16:16‬ ‭(ESV)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

I remember someone prayed for me that “you will be doubly blessed to accept Jesus for who He is instead of what He can do for you”.  I had no idea what it meant at that time and my fleshly desire was more for God’s blessings than for Him. What had prompted me then wasn’t what made me accept Christ but it was His Word that humbled me – God is the Creator and Lord of my life; we are all indebted to Him.

Truly, the treasure is in His Word, better than pure gold and rubies. Indeed, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, only fools despise His wisdom and instructions. She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed. (Proverbs 1:7, 3:18‬, ‭ESV‬‬)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for teaching me through King Solomon’s strength and weakness no how to live a life pleasing to You. Help me to stay on course by faith and not to fall. Guide me by Your Spirit to run my race obediently until I see You face to face. Amen.

About this Plan

Through the Bible: 1 Kings

1st Kings begins with Solomon’s rise to kingship and his fall, leading to the nation’s splitting into two kingdoms, known as Judah and Israel. During the most wicked time, God sent the prophet Elijah to call the people to repentance. The author intends to recount history with an appeal to readers in every generation: the darker the world we live in, the more Christ-followers need to stand firm for God.
