Love Is... | an 8-Day Plan by Doxa Deo

DAY 2 OF 8

Love is a Gift

We want to talk about the fact that love is a gift.

Consider this, the very first need that you had was to receive love from somebody who would take care of you and then as you grew older, you realized what an incredible privilege it is to love other people and that is what makes life purposeful.

I think loving what we do is one of the deepest places of fulfillment and considering that I think it really is what makes the world go round.

Love is the start of everything, love is the point to life and that is why 1 John 4:7 says: "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God."

The word "knows" in this passage refers to the experience of who God is. I think one of the closest ways in which you can experience heaven on this planet is in the loving relationship with your spouse.

I also see in 1 John 4:19: "We love, because He first loved us”. That means He becomes the fountain, and all the love that I need is promised in Him. He is the one who fills my life with love and lets it overflow to capacity, in order to express my love to my spouse.

Sometimes we get so used to one another that we forget what a privilege it is to have someone that we can love and have someone that loves us in return.

Let us turn to one another and discuss this discussion point today:

Discussion: What do we still appreciate of what we have in each other?

And then maybe after that pray this prayer over your marriage:

Prayer: Heavenly Father please teach us how to receive your love for us. We pray that your love will fill our home and may your love be the fountain that each of us will drink from. Our relationship be a testimony of your love for us. Amen
