6 Days Relishing God’s GloryНамуна
Does God Seek His Own Glory?
Is it right for God to seek his own glory? What higher end could he seek? If he put something else before himself, would he not be an idolater breaking the first commandment? Is it unloving for God to seek his own glory?
On the contrary, if God is the first and best of beings, if humans were made to show forth and enjoy God’s glory, and if loving others entails wanting what is best for them and what will give them most joy, then it would be unloving for God to do anything other than seek his own glory. God is righteous and loving to seek his own glory so that people can celebrate his great name and relish him forever and ever, amen.
Prayer: Glorious Father, thank you that you are not an idolater. Thank you that you treasure your own fame. Thank you that your pursuit of your fame is to my great benefit. Help me live in a way that proclaims to all creation your glory.

About this Plan
We hold on to the promise that “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” (Hab 2:14). Yet we don’t have to wait for that future day to spend time pondering and relishing God’s glory. In this 6-day devotional, James Hamilton guides readers through Scripture and enables them to pause and treasure God’s glory.
