Faithfulness Never
Leaves Us
We live in a broken world - it’s not hard to see this by looking around us. You may have first-hand experience of this, perhaps a painful experience that has caused you to lose your trust in others close to you. It’s inevitable that we’ve all experienced pain in this way. This is why faithfulness, as a fruit of the Spirit, can be hard to possess. Faithfulness has to come from a place of trust and loyalty. Faithfulness in God comes from having a relationship with him. When we are truly faithful to God, it shapes the way we live as Christians.
Proverbs 3:3 talks of clinging to love and faithfulness – letting them never leave us as if they are around our neck. Faithfulness is evidence of the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives. It’s a trait that combines dependability and trust that’s based on our confidence in God and his eternal faithfulness.
How can we hold on to faithfulness? As Christians, we can grow in our faithfulness by having a personal relationship with Christ. If we are faithful to him and obey his commands, it will be evident in the way that we live. Proverbs 3 refers to writing love and faithfulness on the “tablet of your heart”. You might be familiar with the tablets of the 10 Commandments which God gave to Moses to instruct the Israelites how to live in a covenant relationship with him. Similarly, we are to have love and faithfulness on the tablet of our heart as a constant reminder of putting our trust in God daily and being faithful to him.
So how can you apply this to your life? Think about the ways in which you show your faithfulness to God. Are there things that get in the way of your faithfulness? What areas of your life aren’t you giving to Him? Why not bring this to God in prayer?
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you that you are a faithful God. We are sorry for the times when we have been unfaithful to you and have allowed other things to get in the way of our relationship with you. Please make clear to us the ways in which we are unfaithful and we ask for the Holy Spirit to work in our hearts to motivate us to change. Amen.

About this Plan
Fruit Bowl is a 9-week deep dive into the Fruit of the Spirit put together by the Naujavan community. Jesus said, “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples." Bearing the Fruit of the Spirit is the result of spending quality time with God, allowing Him to shape and form us.” We hope this devotional encourages you to do just that.
