DAY 28 OF 63

Reflect on Patience

We have spent this week looking at patience and have been reminded that we are not alone in our waiting. In fact, when we reflect on the characters in the bible we see that we are in good company.

Adele Calhoun states: “God’s people to learn to wait with God in the present moment. Because is the only place God is found. The past with its regrets is irretrievably gone. The future with its what-ifs is out of our control. But now, right now, it is possible to be with God. It is possible to wait and say yes to God in what is. Waiting is where we learn to let go of our control and expectations, and trust that God is good no matter what is happening. Waiting with God is where we learn how to be happy when we don’t get our own way.”

In our passage today, the Psalmist speaks of presenting their requests before the Lord in the morning and ‘waiting expectantly’. Just as David does here, we too can bring our requests in God in prayer. We are not necessarily promised a quick answer; in fact, it is sometimes in the waiting that we grow the most.

John Ortberg puts it well: “Biblically, waiting is not just something we have to do until we get what we want. Waiting is part of the process of becoming what God wants us to be.”

About this Plan

Fruit Bowl

Fruit Bowl is a 9-week deep dive into the Fruit of the Spirit put together by the Naujavan community. Jesus said, “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples." Bearing the Fruit of the Spirit is the result of spending quality time with God, allowing Him to shape and form us.” We hope this devotional encourages you to do just that.
