How to Live a Good Life: A Study for KidsНамуна
THE BIBLE
By Nick Kalb
Story
The Bible is a big part of having a good life. Parents and church people make a big deal of the Bible. They want kids to read it, too. Have you ever tried to read it for yourself? It’s pretty big, and doesn’t seem like it was made for kids. There are lots of names that are hard to pronounce, and there are words that kids have never seen before!
Sure . . . you can believe that the Bible is important, but sometimes it’s hard to remember why. And why are we supposed to be reading it anyway?
Bible Verse of the Day
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, and a light for my path” — Psalm 119:105
Think
Have you ever heard about God speaking to people? Or about how He changes lives? The Bible is the way He does it!
By reading His Word, we get to know Him. When we read, we give Him a chance to let us know what’s important to Him. We learn all about who He is, we learn about His ways, we learn about His love for us, about Jesus, about who we are and how He feels about us, and how we ought to treat one another.
The Bible is FULL of examples of people who listened to God and people who didn’t. By reading it, we get a chance to learn from them. Reading the Bible for yourself is important because that’s where you take the first steps to getting to know God on your own. And that is one part of living the good life!
Do Something
Practice looking up verses in the Bible by finding Psalm 119:18. We won’t tell you what it says (NO SPOILERS), but if you say this verse to God every time you read His Word, He’ll help you understand it!
Pray
Dear God, help me to get to know you through your word. Thank You for giving me a book that I can use to learn about You and Your ways. Help me make a habit of reading Your word daily. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!
