Love Remains Holy Week

DAY 6 OF 8

Jesus had been arrested. The one man a nation had hoped would bring freedom from the oppression under which they lived, had been interrogated, beaten, tried and sentenced to death.

What must his disciples have felt? Life as they knew was suddenly, shockingly changing. Their hopes of physical liberation had been squashed. And for what? They had seen the miracles, believed Jesus was God’s son, so how, then, could this be happening? Wasn’t he going to save them? Couldn’t Jesus have stopped all of this?

Yes. He could have. Then why didn’t he?

Because Jesus loved unselfishly.  What the disciples couldn’t possibly have known or understood at the time was this physical act of death — of surrendering one’s very own life — opened the door to something so much greater. To an invitation for us to lay down our lives, agendas, egos, for the sake of others and the chance at true life.

Read Luke 22:66-23:56 and ask what is God saying to you in this season?

About this Plan

Love Remains Holy Week

It’s hard to imagine what Jesus was thinking and feeling in the days leading to cross, but one thing we do know—his trust and assurance in the goodness and faithful love of God. Take a journey this Holy Week through the gospels, walk with Jesus, ask God a simple question, and encounter the vast love of God.
