Take This Job and Love It

DAY 4 OF 6

DAY FOUR

TAKE THIS JOB AND...

There is nothing wrong with disliking your job.  God just might be spurring you to move on to something else, something that’s a better fit for you, something that feeds your spirit.

If you are in this position, I encourage you to prayerfully seek Him through all of it.  And when you see that door that God opens, make sure you step out in faith and walk through it!  It will be scary, but press on... He has already gone before you.

God may open that door for you tomorrow.  Most likely, though, the opportunity might not come knocking for a while.  But, continue praying and believing that He is leading you to a place where you can best serve Him.

Regardless of the job you’re holding, you can still do what my pastor in Nashville, Dr. David Foster, used to preach:  "Get up, suit up, show up, do the next right thing, and let God handle the rest."

More than anybody in my life before, Dr. Foster taught me about God’s Grace.  I love what he wrote in his incredible book, Power to Prevail.  It’s such a wise way to move towards something you yearn to do with God’s hand in it:

What needs around you do you sense are going unmet?  What do you see that needs to be done?  What things move your heart and grieve your soul?  What things get you upset... The prospect of how to right a wrong stir up your creative imagination.  It’s the way God has wired you, and you need to start thinking about constructive ways to turn your concern into solutions.  What is your Big Hairy Audacious Dream?

Another must-read on the same subject matter is an incredible book by my current pastor, Craig Groeschel, titled Chazown, which really helps you narrow in on just what your vision or dream or... Chazown is.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY:

Lord, You know every thought I have. I am thankful for Your daily provision. I am thankful for my job. But You know my heart is not fulfilled in it.  God, I pray that you open a door for me that leads me to something I not only enjoy but something at which I am called to do. But most of all, I want to glorify You in all I do, today and always. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
