Through the Bible: Deuteronomy

DAY 1 OF 12

God Keeps His Promise

See, the Lord your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
Deuteronomy 1:21 (NIV)

What God has promised, He will give it to us.  But sometimes when life hits hard and when God’s promises seem to vanish, it casts doubt on us and weakens our faith. We start to ask ourselves about the reality of the promises; our faith is tested.

But God is faithful. We need to keep our faith in what He promised. We should learn to trust God, seek His presence and worship Him even when life doesn’t go the way we expect. We cannot let opposition put us off. We should overcome our fear, remain focused on the work of God and what God wants us to do to fulfill His purpose in our lives. His promises never fail.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for all Your promises You have given in our lives. Help us to follow You wholeheartedly and to enjoy Your blessings to the full. Allay our fears and lead us by Your will. Help us to stay strong in our faith and give us an obedient spirit in whatever circumstance. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

About this Plan

Deuteronomy is the final heart-pouring sermon of the dying Moses to the second generation of the Israelites, retelling the salvation history of their forefathers and the ways of life through God’s words as they enter into the Promised Land. The book ends with Moses calling readers for a decision: curse and death by disobedience or blessing and life by loving the Lord. Likewise, which will you choose?
