Unravel Hidden PotentialНамуна
Prepared for Good Works
I had worked in the IT industry for over 30 years when I sensed God’s calling. I had been actively involved in the church and with some Christian organizations, but this call seemed different.
I took time to analyze my circumstances, my finances, my savings and wondered how I would manage if I resigned. With my wife, two daughters to be married, and an aged mother, the prospect seemed scary. Even as I dithered, I felt God nudging me. I put in my papers. My company urged me to stay on, but I had made up my mind.
How was God planning to use me? I did not fit the profile of what I thought a typical Christian organization did – preach, counsel, work in villages and conduct health camps. I was quite wrong, as I discovered to my surprise.
When I made myself available, I found myself being used for people management, financial planning, training, and much more. I realized later that I had acquired these skills subconsciously while trying to build cost-effective solutions, using skilled resources, and trained on the newest of technologies.
In the Bible, we see God calling Moses, a shepherd for 40 years (Ex 3:1), to lead His people out of Egypt, and Nehemiah, a cupbearer for the king, to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem (Neh 1:10). Jesus called Peter and Andrew, both fishermen (Mt 4:18, 19), and Matthew, a tax collector (9:9) to become His disciples. They were the most unlikely candidates, but God used each one of them uniquely.
Every profession matters to God. If you ever feel God calling you, do not hold back wondering what you can offer God, or whether your circumstances are conducive to take this step. He placed the potential in you, trained and equipped you, even when you were unaware of it. He knows when and how to use you. He only wants a willing heart. He will surprise you by bringing forth potential you never thought you had. After all, you are God’s workmanship, called for good works.
Dear Lord, I pray that I would be found willing for the good works You have planned for Me.
