Sow and Reap
Galatians 6:7 (NIV) says, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” In other words, “What you make happen for others, God will make happen for you”. I experience this in my life, and I believe there are many who can attest to this truth.
God selflessly gave his only son for us, and more children were added to God’s family in return.
Isaiah 58 shows us what would happen to those who fast on behalf of others. Isaiah 58:6-8 (NIV) says:
"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness a will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I."
Fasting and praying for others is God's will and God is faithful to bring to pass his covenant concerning your selfless acts of intercession.
Right now, please take a moment and write down the needs of children and families you know. If you do not know what to write, write what you want for your own children and pray those desires for other people’s children.
Is your community dealing with drug addiction? Pray about it. Are there laws and policies in your city, state, or nation that are detrimental to the lives of children? You have the power to do something. Ask God for wisdom and he will show you every way he wants you to stop the plan of the enemy for little children in your local community and nations of the world.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your love, goodness, and mercy. Thank you for all that the death and resurrection of Jesus has made available for us. You are worthy of praise and you reign forever! I receive strength for a selfless life of prayer and fasting. Holy Spirit, I yield myself to you. Help me to pray God's will this moment (Romans 8:26). In Jesus' name.
Pray as led by the Holy Spirit.
