Justice

DAY 7 OF 30

TRUE WORSHIP

James 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

In the above verse, James talks about the finest ritual and the finest liturgy one can offer to God is service of the poor and personal purity. To him real worship lay in the practical service of mankind and in the purity of one's own personal life. The religious activity that is pleasing to God requires caring for the widowed and orphans. Concern for widows and orphans frequently appears in the Old Testament as righteousness. (Deut. 10:18; Ezek. 22:7; Ps.68:5). According to that of John, He that doeth not righteousness is not of God neither he that loveth not his brother, 1 John3:10. But, on the other hand, a holy life and a charitable heart show true Christianity. Compassion and charity to the poor and distressed form a very great and necessary part of Christianity.

Dear God,
Please make us mindful of all your gifts, that we may be content and grateful. We pray for the widowed and the orphans that you will bless each according to their need and make us ready to help in the hour of need. - Amen

In my life I've learned that true happiness comes from giving. Helping others along the way makes you evaluate who you are. I think that love is what we're all searching for. I haven't come across anyone who didn't become a better person through love. - Maria Gibbs

About this Plan

Justice

My inspiration for this 30 days Devotional is from prolonged theological discourses on Justice. My burning desire is to see that the Church becomes catalyst to stop violence against the poor. I am also grateful to Organizations who work relentlessly to secure Justice for the poor.
