Pray Together
Recently, my spouse and I experienced some significant health challenges, some of which we didn’t think we would make it through. We experienced anxiety, physical pain and uncertainty. There were moments when we didn’t feel adequate enough to be there for one another. It seemed like we couldn’t get it right.
Our inadequacy caused us to relent from trying to be each other’s doctor or nurse. Instead, we focused on what we could do to be supportive. We prayed in private for each other and stopped trying to fix the issue—we went to God. There were times we walked in on each other praying on our knees in tears or singing aloud to keep the faith. WE PRAYED. We begged God, we questioned God and we learned that He was paying close attention to our prayers.
Prayer remains an important part of our marriage. We learned that prayer gives us strength to endure hard times. We learned that prayer gives us hope that things can get better. We tried our best to pray at our bedside together, daily. Things got better. At times, it felt like our prayer life was all we had to cling to, and it helped us make it through. It continues to do so. So, we encourage you to pray together. Make time to share your heart with God, and allow the space to experience His reply.
Prayer: Dear Lord, please bless our marriage and keep us together. Give us strength to be there for one another and comfort us when life is challenging. We desire your will and pray for guidance and provision. In Jesus's name, Amen.
