Pursuit Week: A Time to Renew and ResetНамуна
Refresh
The Source of True Refreshment
Burnout is a hot topic these days, and rightfully so. Many people are experiencing deep physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion–especially after walking through such a stressful year. Part of the remedy for this exhaustion is what we’ve discussed the previous three days. We need to reflect on the past and decide which things we must leave behind, we need to renew our minds with God’s truth, and we need to reset our perspective according to God’s kingdom.
Here’s another remedy: we need to refresh ourselves. When Jesus was speaking with the woman at the well, He told her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never be thirsty; but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up to eternal life.” (John 4:13-14)
Jesus will not lead you to burnout. That is why it’s so important to not become too busy to spend time with Him. He doesn’t just give peace, He IS peace. When you come to Him and let Him lead you like the good shepherd that He is, you will find rest for your soul and times of refreshing in His presence.
The really good news is that He won’t just address your personal dehydration; He will actually create in you a fountain that will spring up and refresh other people. This is something our world is desperately seeking right now, and as followers of Christ we can be reservoirs of living water for the benefit of others.
Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches; the one who remains in Me, and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5) This fruit is for other people in our sphere of influence. As we anchor ourselves to Jesus, and remain in Him, there is overflow in our lives to bring hope to the world around us.
Prayer & Reflection: Lord, teach me to remain connected to You always. Show me how I can bring light and life to others around me.
