The Gospel of Mark

DAY 22 OF 42

There is a high cost to following Jesus. When we place our faith in Him we gain eternal life, but we also turn away from a life of sin. When we sin we do so out of selfishness, fear, or unmet desires. We look to ourselves, others, or the world to meet needs and desires only God can fill.

When we sin, we tell God our ways are better than His. Jesus taught us to run from sin. Not only to avoid situations where we are tempted, but to completely remove them. Jesus took drastic measures to pay for our sin by dying on the cross. When we take drastic steps to remove sin from our lives, we honor His sacrifice and bring Him glory.

When our faith is firmly placed in Jesus, we no longer look to the world, to ourselves, or to others to meet our needs. He is the Son of God, the Messiah, our Salvation. He is everything we need. He is everything we need in life, and He is everything we need to find victory over our sin struggles. He alone can save, and through Him alone can we find freedom from sin.

Lord, give me eyes to see the depth of sin in my life. Help me turn to You alone when I am in need. Help me trust You and believe You have the best for me. Help me follow You no matter the cost. Amen.

About this Plan

The Gospel of Mark

The Gospel of Mark is a powerful account of the life of Jesus. It displays the character of Jesus on every page, from His willingness to suffer and serve to His power and deity miraculously displayed. With every scene the author asks, “Where is your faith?” As we read and study the Gospel of Mark we can’t help but answer this important question.
