The Missing Link: From Fear to CourageНамуна
Day 1: Fear
Have you ever heard of something called Kangaroo Care?
Doctors developed this as a response to the fear and shock that babies have when they first enter the world. The goal is to soothe the baby by immediately giving the baby to the mother so that she can help her newborn adapt to the sudden change they have just undergone.
This beautiful and intimate moment does two things:
1.) It calms the babies fears of the new world they have just entered.
2.) introduces them to their first ounce of courage.
Growing up I would often hear the words Courage and Bravery used simultaneously. Seeing and hearing bible stories of David defeating Goliath, Daniel in the lion's den, and Jesus dying on the cross displayed the ultimate courage that I would hope to eventually display as well.
One day, I was talking to a friend about something powerful God had shown me. My immediate feeling was that I wanted to share on social media because I knew that so many others could be blessed by the revelation. So, I typed everything up and worded it perfectly, but I didn't hit send.
I was passionate, excited, nervous, and afraid for many reasons.
Unsure of what was going on, I took a step back, talked with God, and listened for Him to reveal the culprit. Eventually, I realized that somewhere during my years of life, timidity had knocked on the door of my soul and entered in.
As much as I didn’t want it there, even with much prayer, I was still very timid. The crushing reality was that as much as I knew about the courage and bravery that could be found in Christ, I was gripped by fear and timidity. I had lived most of my life playing the game far from courageous, but instead on the sidelines with fear, and God was about to call a heavenly audible.
As I spent time with God, he began to reveal to me the path from Timidity to Courage that is often overlooked, and I want to share it with you.
Before we learn the missing link, I want you to take a moment and Dream. Take a moment and answer the question (and write it down): What would life be like for you if fear and timidity did not have space in it?
