Uncommen: Don't Call It a ComebackНамуна
In The Beginning
After the year that we've had in 2020, some may think things are out of control and beyond repair. Which, in fact, is 100% incorrect. The same God who created the heavens and earth is still in control, just as He was in the beginning. Are things going the way we intended? No. Are things going the way God intended? Yes!
It's not like God said one day, "Oh look, Covid-19 is spreading across the world. That's new." God is where He has always been, and that is on His throne trying to reach each of us.
You may be thinking, "How could a loving God let this happen to people He supposedly loves?"
You may not be thinking about what God has to do to get our attention.
Face it; we are selfish people who like to be "in control" of our lives no matter how much we tend to mess it up. We want to take credit for anything good and blame someone else for anything bad.
We can look at several places in the Bible that show we do not focus our lives on God, and there are consequences to those actions.
- Luke 12: 13-21 (The Rich Fool)
- Like 15: 11-32 (The Prodigal Son)
- Jonah 1-3 (Jonah Flees God)
Where is God in all of this? In the same place He's always been. He's a prayer away from salvation with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Will this make Covid-19 go away? No. But it will make you and I take comfort in the fact that we are saved by Grace and more mindful of the will of God. I bet there has been more prayer time during 2020 than since the last World War.
There will always be issues that make life a struggle, but we need to address how we handle them. Do we sulk and look for someone to send help? Or do we take that issue to God and seek His wisdom?
Don't call it a comeback...God is here!
2 Chronicles 7:14 — "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
Uncommen Questions:
Does everything have to be going well for you to be open to God?
Do you feel you were close to or distant from God during 2020?
Uncommen Challenge:
I would challenge you and myself to value God's presence in our lives.
