7 Attitudes to Enjoy Life

DAY 6 OF 7

LIVE WELL IN COMMUNITY - Love your neighbor

The third direction in the text of Ephesians 5: 18-21 for living well in community is:

  • Submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Hebrews 12:14 speaks clearly about the effort we must make to live in peace with everyone, especially those in the family of faith. Have you been making that effort?

Ephesians 5:21 holds the key to achieving this peaceful coexistence in a community: we must submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

You may ask yourself, "what do you mean, 'out of fear of Christ'?" Because He first loved us and forgave us, so we too must love and forgive others, in no way putting ourselves in a superior position, but in the manner of servants, also taking care of the interests of others. Jesus demonstrated this as it is written in Philippians 2:5-8, "Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross." In verse 5, we receive the guidance: "Let your attitude be the same as that of Christ Jesus!".

Today, I leave the invitation to you: Have Christ's attitude towards others - LOVE!

Let's pray? Lord God, I thank you for sending your son Jesus to save us. Jesus is the example of life, and I want to have the same attitude that He did. I want to empty myself and humbly obey You until the end. Fill me with Your love, Lord. Give me Your eyes to see people. Give me Your ears to hear them. Give me your heart to love them. In the name of Jesus, amen.
